Thai Set For Referendum After Final Draft Constitution Unveiled

The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) unveiled the final draft constitution to the public Tuesday, setting the stage for the much anticipated nationwide referendum in August this year.

The draft constitution containing 279 articles was unveiled by the CDC's chief, Meechai Ruchupan, after presenting it to members of the cabinet who held their weekly meeting on Tuesday.

"The next step is for the people to consider whether they will accept or reject the draft constitution (in a referendum)," he told reporters here Tuesday.
