Thailand in Focus :: New commercial airport near Thai capital to open by 2017

Thailand's military government plans to open a new commercial airport by 2017, officials confirmed Thursday.
The government plans to redevelop U-Tapao, a former Vietnam War-era Air Force base located near the tourist resort of Pattaya, around 140 kilometres from Bangkok.
Officials from the Transport Ministry said that U-Tapao would be the third airport to serve the capital, along with the existing Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports.Credit and view full story at dpa international
