The Thai cabinet on Tuesday approved plans to build three domestic motorway routes worth more than 160 billion baht ($4.7 billion), funded by domestic sources and the government budget, a deputy government spokesman said.
Under the plan, construction starts late this year on a 32-km route from the eastern beach resort of Pattaya in Chonburi province to the town of Map Ta Put in the neighbouring province of Rayong, to be completed in 2023, at a cost of 20.2 billion baht ($593 million), the spokesman, Sansern Kaewkamnerd, told reporters.
Construction of a 196-km route connecting the central district of Bang Pa-in to the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima will take four years from 2016 and a 96-km route from the central district of Bang Yai to the western province of Kanchanaburi will take three years from 2016.
