Thailand in Focus :: Minister of Foreign Affairs gives an interview on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' policies

On 25 August 2015, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs paid respect to the statue of Prince Devawongse Varopakarn, the Father of Thai diplomacy and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and the statue of Buakaew, the symbol of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met the press to give an interview on the Ministry's policies. He said that Thailand's foreign policy will continue to be productive, concrete, responsive and beneficial for the interest of Thai people. He emphasised the 5 main objectives of Thai foreign policy which are: 1) maintaining the good relationship with every country 2) recognising that Thailand's foreign policy is an integral part of national policy 3) ensuring good coordination with all Thai stakeholders before implementing Thai foreign policy 4) safeguarding the National Interests of Thailand and Thai people’s well-being and 5) encouraging human resource development in order to increase Thailand’s economic competitiveness. He also pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would now be attached to the economic cluster of the government since the economic factor, which is connected topolitical and socio-cultural factors, has always been the focus of the Ministry.

The Minister also asked all sector in Thailand to pay full attention towards the regional and global issues which will benefit or affect the well-being of Thai people and as the owner of the country, the Thai public should raise the awareness to watch and take responsibility for the country.
