The fourth annual Asia's 50 Best Restaurants awards will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, for the first time next year.

It will take place on Feb 29, 2016.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (Oct 20) at Gaysorn Shopping Centre in Bangkok.

The awards, which list the the top 50 restaurants in Asia, are an offshoot of the much-watched and coveted World's 50 Best Restaurants list, which is put out by UK trade publication Restaurant magazine, published by the William Reed Media Group. The world list began in 2002. The first three instalments of the Asian awards ceremony - the list was launched in 2013 - had been held in Singapore. Mr William Drew, group editor of the Asian list, said: "In recent years, the country's (Thailand) vibrant restaurant scene has matured, welcoming world-class establishments serving a variety of international cuisines." He added that Thailand, which is fast establishing itself as one of Asia'a "key gastronomic hubs", makes it an ideal country to host the 2016 edition. Credit and view full story at The Straits Times
