Thailand in Focus :: Bangkok to host One Young World Summit 2015

Bangkok will host the One Young World Summit in November to become the first Asian home of the event, which provides a forum for young leaders aged 18-20 can share their thoughts.

Previous summits have taken place in London (2010), Zurich (2011), Pittsburgh (2012), Johannesburg (2013) and Dublin (2014). 

The event will take place from November 18 to 21. 

More than 1,300 young leaders from 196 countries will join the event to address solutions to challenges across a variety of fields, including education, environment, global business, leadership and government, human rights, and peace and security. 

Kate Robertson, founder of One Young World, said: "We hope to push the boundaries of what is possible with every One Young World Summit to ensure that we continue to be the premier gathering for young leaders globally. 

"This is a hugely exciting time |for One Young World and we are |proud to be taking the summit to Asia for the first time. On the eve of the creation of the Asean Economic Community, now is the time to make sure that the voices of the region's youth are heard."

In conjunction with One Young World, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is launching the Social Business Camp initiative |to give young Thais the chance to win a place at the Bangkok Summit by submitting their initiatives to affect social change. Source: The Nation
