The Royal Thai Embassy attended the ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the ASEAN's 50th Anniversary

The Royal Thai Embassy together with the ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Prague which consist of Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Embassy of Malaysia, Embassy of the Philippines and Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam attended the flag-hoisting ceremony to commemorate the ASEAN's 50th Anniversary held at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 8 August 2017.  Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and other Czech governmental agencies including diplomatic missions from ASEAN dialogue partners also attended the ceremony.  The flag was raised together with the ASEAN anthem and later ended with a small reception hosted by the Embassy of the Social republic of Vietnam.

 

The flag-hoisting ceremony took place in syncronisation with the Grand Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and the closing ceremony of the 50th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Manila, the Philippines. 

 

ASEAN was born on 8 August 1967 by the initiative of Dr, Thanat Khoman, former Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and with the signing of the "ASEAN Declaration" by the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand at the Saranrom Palace, Bangkok, Thailand.  Until now, not only that the number of ASEAN Community has grown  to ten Member States but the ASEAN community is also one of the fast-growing markets and 7th largest economy zone in the world.
