On 13 May 2017, the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP), the Czech Republic, comprising of the Royal Thai Embassy, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Embassy of Malaysia, Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines and Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, participated in the second edition of the “Festival of Embassies: Food and Culture” organised by the Prague 6 Municipality Office at Vitezne namesti, Prague 6.  The event provided foreign diplomatic missions situated in the Prague 6 area an opportunity to showcase their local food and products.  There were participating 35 missions from countries around the world.  The Royal Thai Embassy also staged the Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) demonstration by Mr. Komsan Phiphitsala, Thai boxing teacher in the Czech Republic, and his students, which received wide applause from the audiences.

The organisation of the event was suggested by H.E. Mr. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic.  It was successfully held for the first time last year by adapting the weekly Farmers’ Market where Czech local goods and agricultural products are sold.  Over the past five years, the ACP regularly participated in the Farmers’ Market, with a view to promoting the visibility of ASEAN and its Members to the Czech general public.

This year’s event was also successful and there were approximately 10,000 Czech and foreign participants over the course of the day.
