On 22 February 2017, H.E. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, in his capacity as Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP) hosted the 12th ACP meeting at the Residence of the Ambassador of Thailand. The meeting was partipated by H.E. Mr. Truong Manh Son, Ambassador of Vietnam, H.E. Mrs. Nadzirah Binti Osman, Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Mr. Aulia Aman Rachman, Ambassador of Indonesia, and Dr. Juan E. Dayang, Jr., Charge d' Affaires, a.i., Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines.
The ACP reviewed past joint activities in 2016 and discussed plan for 2017 with a view to further promoting visibility of and understanding about ASEAN in the Czech Republic, as well as commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN on 8 August 2017. This includes the organisation of a roundtable discussion with Czech private sector and business networking reception in the third quarter of the year.
Afterwards, H.E. the Ambassador of Thailand hosted luncheon for the ACP. H.E. Mr. Martin Klepetko, new Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, was invited to attend the lunch, during which both sides exchanged views on economic cooperation between ASEAN and the EU, as well as opportunities trade and investment for the Czech Republic in ASEAN. The Czech side also expressed support for the ACP activities in the Czech Republic.
