The Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic presided over the first day of the Fifth ASEAN Film Festival in Prague

On 13 September 2016, H.E. Mr. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, in his capacity as Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP) presided over the first day of the Fifth ASEAN Film Festival at the Lucerna Cinema, Prague.  Among dignitaries, H.E. Mr. Hynek Kmonicek, Adviser to the President of the Czech Republic, and his partner, H.E. Mr. Aulia Aman Rachman, Ambassador of Indonesia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Mrs. Nadzirah Osman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Victoriano M. Lecaros, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Czech Republic, and his wife, and H.E. Mr. Truong Manh Son, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic, and his wife attended the opening ceremony.

 

The existing five ASEAN Embassies in Prague have jointly organised the Film Festival every year for five years, with a view to promoting visibility of and understanding about ASEAN for the general public in the Czech Republic.  This year, the Fifth ASEAN Film Festival is held during 13 – 17 September 2016 at the Lucerna Cinema, Prague.  There are five quality films from five ASEAN Member States, each of which is screened at 18.00 hours on each day, free of charge, in the following order:

13 September 2016: “Phee Mak” from Thailand

14 September 2016: “The journey” from Malaysia

15 September 2016: “Surat Dari Praha” from Indonesia

16 September 2016: “Kid Kulafo” from the Philippines

17 September 2016: “Yen’s Life” from Vietnam

 

On the first day, “Phee Mak” from Thailand attracted a large number of people in the Czech public.  There were approximately 200 audiences and attendants at the reception held after the screening of the Thai film.
