On 30 August 2016, H.E. Mr. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, in his capacity as Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP), together with H.E. Mrs. Nadzirah Osman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Victoriano M. Lecaros, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Czech Republic, Mr. Vu Van Minh, Charge d' Affaires, Embassy of Vietnam to the Czech Republic, and Ms. Tribayu Deviputri Purwanti, Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Indonesia to the Czech Republic, participated in the press conference for the Fifth ASEAN Film Festival at the Lucerna Cinema, Prague. Mr. Tomas Weinreb and Mr. Petr Kazda, famous Czech directors, patrons of the Festival, also participated in the press conference.
The Festival which will be held during 13 - 17 September 2016 at the Lucerna Cinema, Prague, will screen five movies from five ASEAN Members for the general public without charges. Each movie will be shown one time at 18.00 hours each day. The Thai "Pee Mak" will be screened on 13 September 2016, the Malaysian "The Journey" will be screened on 14 September 2016, the Indonesia "Surat Dari Praha" will be screened on 15 September 2016, the Filipino "Kid Kufalo" will be screened on 16 September 2016, and the Vietnamese "Yen's Life" will be screened on 17 September 2016, respectively.
The Festival is an annual activity of the ACP which five ASEAN Embassies to the Czech Republic has organised jointly for the last five years with a view to promoting the image and visibility of ASEAN in the Czech Republic through cultural diplomacy, understanding and knowledge about ASEAN among the Czech public, as well as people-to-people contacts between ASEAN and the Czech Republic.
