The Royal Thai Government continues to extend assistance to all those affected by the explosion at Rachaprasong intersection which resulted in a number of fatalities and injuries including foreign nationals. The Government has facilitated the identification of foreign tourists affected by the incident and provided financial measures to assist those injured. Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand have also graciously granted assistance to the victims, particularly on the part of medical expenses which is not covered by other means. They will also provide financial assistance to the bereaved families. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs set up its operation of a call centre and a situation command room since the morning of 18th August to provide timely information to the public. The Ministry has coordinated with foreign embassies in Bangkok whose nationals are affected. Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates General around the world have also facilitated the visa application and waived the visa fees for the families and relatives of those who were affected. The Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates General have contacted foreign governments to assure them of Thailand’s utmost efforts in maintaining public safety and security, as well as a speedy and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his deepest condolences for the victims and their families through personal messages to leaders of affected nations. Thailand genuinely appreciates the outpouring of messages of condolence and encouragement from world leaders, nations and international organizations around the world. On 21 August 2015, the Government, the private sector, relatives of the victims and foreign dignitaries in Thailand joined together in a religious ceremony of remembrance at the site of the explosion. Later on, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Thailand called on Deputy Permanent Secretary Suvat Chirapant to present the letter of condolence from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and to offer assistance to Thailand.
