Suranaree Girls Wind Symphony performed at St. Nicolaus Church, Prague

On 15 February 2020, Mrs. Ureerat Charoentoh, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Czech Republic, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, Prague, attended the symphony concert performed by Suranaree Girls Wind Symphony from Suranaree Wittaya School in Nakorn Ratchasima, Thailand, at St. Nicolaus Church, Old Town Square, Prague.

The Suranaree Girls Wind Symphony was founded in 1985 and is part of the Suranaree Wiitaya School from Nakhon Ratchasima, a beautiful town in the north-east of Thailand. The band has 100 members. Despite its relatively long history, it has demonstrated its resoluteness and continues to strive for musical development under the leadership of Mr. Kosol Pongpanid, Director of the Suranaree Wittaya School and Mr. Apivut Minalai, band’s trainer and conductor.

The Suranaree Girls Wind Symphony won a number of awards, such as, the Gold Medal in the World Music Competition in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, eight times. They won three times at the All Thailand Band Royal Cup, including best prize at the World Championship for Marching Show Bands in Denmark, first place at the Singapore International Band Festival in 2018 and Thailand International Wind Symphony Competition Champions in 2019 and won the Gold Medal With Honour at the 22nd International Festival of Wind Orchestra Prague 2020.
