On 15 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, presided over the 2026 Songkran (Thai New Year) merit-making ceremony at Wat Dhammakittiwong in Prague, along with members of the Thai community in the Czech Republic. On this occasion, the Ambassador and his spouse, together with the Embassy’s personnel and their families, joined the Thai community in religious activities, including paying respects to the Buddha image, observing the precepts, performing a merit-making ceremony dedicated to ancestors, offering food to monks, and contributing to a Kathin-style donation (Pha Pa Samakkhi). The Embassy also took part in hosting a food offering stall at the event. Afterwards, participants poured water over the Buddha image and onto the hands of the monks as well as the elders for blessings. The ceremony is an important Buddhist activity and reflects Thai culture, which is deeply rooted in Buddhism. The Embassy wishes to rejoice in the merit made by all participants on this day.
