On 12 April 2026 H.E. Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, presided over the 2026 Songkran (Thai New Year) merit-making ceremony at Tiger Temple nad Luznici, located at Týn nad Vltavou to the south of the Czech Republic. The Ambassador and spouse, together with Embassy's personnel and family, joined members of the Thai community in the Czech Republic and those who came from Germany in the almsgiving and food offering as well as the presenting of robes and other needs to monks. Participants also took this opportunity to make merit to the late HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Then, they pour water onto the buddha image and monks for blessing. The ceremony is an important buddhist activity and reflects the Thai culture that is rooted in Buddhism. The Embassy wishes to rejoice in the merit that all the participants did on this occasion.
